Help Farmers to Help Themselves: Agricultural Information Literacy Programs in Tianzhu

天祝农村信息技术培训项目旨在通过构建有效的培训模式,提升欠发达地区社区居民的信息素养-信息自助和互助的能力,以缩小西部地区农民在信息资源的占有和利用方面与发达地区的差异。此项目为期3年,分为4个阶段。目前项目实施处于第一阶段,即信息自助培训模式探索阶段的末期。通过这一阶段的培训实践,一个有效的培训模式日趋明晰起来。文章总结了项目实施第一阶段探索出的信息自助培训模式,并基于案例分析探究其效果,最后简要介绍后续的项目实施和评估计划。

Tianzhu No.1 High School Library serves as the center of a regional library network cluster which is set to deliver practical information services to support the cultural and economic development of the rural communities and to leverage all the local information services to narrow the gap between economically developed urban areas and the disconnected,information deprived rural communities.In this presentation,the author reports on training programs designed for delivering agricultural products specific workshops to farmers.Two factors are the focal points of this study： the farmers’level of information literacy and their specific needs for agricultural product information.One of the objectives of the training programs was to help farmers to search and use product information on their own.The interplaying of the two factors continues to be the subject for future study and will guide collaboration among cluster libraries to offer more useful training programs.
