Abstract First,a summary was made on the formation and charicteristics of traditional system of rural statistics,the preparation and implementation of agricultural census in our country;then,combined with the results of the census,description was given on the shortcomings existed in the system of rural statistics and the reform made,and the orientation of further reform was directed;and finally,the advantages and disavantages of various survey methods were discussed in order to improve the rural statistics in China.
