National Independence and the Development of African Modern Novel

对非洲历史的自觉认识和非洲书面文学的大量产生都发生在20世纪。从欧洲传入非洲的民族观念最终导致了非洲的民族独立运动,同样是欧洲产物的非洲现代小说也在民族独立运动中走向成熟。非洲现代小说的跳跃性发展产生于并反映了非洲独特的社会历史进程,是非洲民族在独立前后的时代心声。

In Africa, the conscious awareness of history and a large number of written literatures have occurred in the 20th century. The national concepts which spreaded from Europe into Africa eventually led to national independence movement. The modern African novel, the product of Europe, also started to mature in the national independence movement. Africa’s modern novels arise from and reflect the unique social history of the African process. It is the African nation’s voice in the peculiar environment.
