Five new
species of Rhyachophila nigrocephala group belonging to the genus Rhyacophila, named
Rhyacophila euryphylla sp. n., Rhyacophila cuneata sp. n., Rhyacophila celata sp. n.,
Rhyacophila exilis sp. n. and Rhyacophila amblyodonta sp. n. are described and figured
herein, and the total species numbers of this species group in the world have been added from
43 to 48, and that of China from 7 to 12. The type specimens are kept in the Insect Collections of
Nanjing Agricultural University. 1. Rhyacophila euryphylla, sp. n. (Fig.1) Length of wing: 10
mm. This species is similar to Rhyacophila tsiudamarpo Schmid from India, but differs by (1)
dorsal plate tapering from base to end and its apex truncated in dorsal view, other than widened
at 1/3 near to base and apex excised; (2) anal sclerite, when viewed dorsally, dilated in the
middle, other than excised in the middle; (3) distal joint of inferior appendages 2.5 times as
long as the basal one, other than being shorter than the distal one obviously. Holotype: ♂,
Nibashan Mt., Yingjing county, Sichuan Province, 2250 m elev., 17-Ⅵ-1996, collected by Yang
Lianfang and Wang Beixin. Paratypes: 2♂♂, same data as holotype; 1♂, Yingxionggou,
Wolong Mt., Sichuan Province, 2100 m elev., 19-Ⅷ-1994, collected by Du Yuzhou. 2.
Rhyacophila cuneata, sp. n. (Fig.2) Length of fore wing: 14 mm. The species is related to
Rhyacophila kuwaymai Schmid from Japan, but is distinguished in (1) the two margins of the
dorsal plate parallel to each other and its apex with a shallow excision, other than widened at
the base and apex with a deep excision; (2) anal sclerite widened in the middle, other than
widened at the base; (3) sagitta longer than its width, with a blunt apex, other than broader than
its length, with a truncated apex; (4) distal joint of inferior appendages cuneate, other than
rectangle and excised distally. Holotype:♂ Longwang Mt., Anji county, Zhejiang Province, 800
m~1300 m elev., 14-Ⅵ-1994, collected by Wu Hong. Paratypes: 2♂♂,4♀♀, same data as
holotype. 3. Rhyacophila celata, sp. n. (Fig.3) Length of fore wing: 7.0 mm. The species is
differs from Rhyacophila vernestril Mey in (1) apex of dorsal plate blunt, other than excised;
(2) anal sclerite arrow like in dorsal view, other than finger like; (3) aedeagus narrower
suddenly at the end, other than tapering to the end; (4) distal joint of inferior appendages
rectangle, other than sub triangular, with posterior margin excised. Holotype ♂, Yu ao,
Fanjingshan Mt., Guizhou Province, 900 m elev., 14-Ⅵ-1995, collected by Sun Changhai and
Wang Beixin. 4. Rhyacophila exilis, sp. n. (Fig.4) Length of fore wing: 9.0 mm. The species
is similar to Rhyacophila vernestril Mey, but differs in (1) dorsal plate 2 times as long as its
width, other than 4 times as long as its width; (2) anal sclerite broad with its apex excised; (3)
aedeagus tapering to the end in ventral view, other than dilated near the base; (4) distal joint of
inferior appendages ovate, other than triangular. Holotype ♂, Chongjiang river, 8000 m west of
Shigu town, Lijiang county, Yunnan Province, 25-Ⅴ-1996, collected by Zhou Changfa.
Paratypes: 1♀, same data as holotype; 2♂♂, branch of Yalongjiang river, 2000 m~5000 m
east of Yajiang county, Sichuan Province, 2640 m elev., 9-Ⅵ-1996, collected by Yang Lianfang
and Wang Beixin. 5. Rhyacophila amblyodonta, sp. n. (Fig.5) Length of fore wing: 6.5mm.
The species is similar to Rhyacophila exilis, sp. n., but differs form the latter in (1) apex of
dorsal plate truncated; (2) anal sclerite larger than that of the latter; (3) the distal joint of inferior
appendages sub triangular in lateral view and ovate in ventral view. Holotype ♂, Wuliang
river, Zhuosang, south of Litang county, Sichuan Province, 3580 m elev., 13-Ⅵ-1996, collected
by Yang Lianfang and Wang Beixin. Paratypes: 1♂, Daocheng river,
