用户需求研究是信息用户研究中的一个重要内容，其研究的对象即信息用户的类型在不断变化，在国外经历了从自然科学用户到社会科学用户、从学术研究用户到应用开发用户、从专业人员用户到社会公众用户的发展过程；这种变化并不是替代性的，而是扩展性的，这可称之为用户对象的广泛化趋势。而在我国，信息用户需求研究的对象仍以学术用户为主，一般用户尚未进入研究者的视野。

Abstract lnformation users are important in the studies of information needand use. The types of studied users are continuously changing worldwide,that is:from science to social science researchers,from scholar to applied developers,form specialists to the public.The studied users is expansionary,not substitutionary .lt's called broadening of information users in this article. Now inour country,the main users studied are academic users,and the secondary are applied workers;the public are still out of information researchers'vision.
