“懿王元年天再旦于郑”，是《竹书纪年》中的记载。“日食说”提出后，它成为西周年代学研究的一条重要线索。文章考察了这条记录在古书中的各种来源；讨论了它作为天象记录的可靠性；评述了近人对这一问题的提出和研究，并提出进一步深入研究的方案。对于“郑”的地望，文章在简述前人的工作后提出它与“日食说”有关的种种线索。
It is stated in the very ancient document Bamboo Annals that 'During the 1st year of King Yi (of the Western Zhou Dynasty), the day dawned twice at Zheng'.Modern scholars recognize the passage as a record of a large solar eclipse at dawn. This record is an important clue for looking into the chronology of the Western Zhou Dynasty. We have found the record in 8 old books and described their statements and context in this paper, in which we also discuss the reliability of various ancient Chinese astronomical records, compare 'double dawn' with other sorts, and confirm that it came from actual observation. Many scholars researched this record to find which year is that first year of King Yi and got different results. Their methods and conclusions are analyzed in our paper. We discover that theoretical expression and practical verification on this special phenomenon are absolutely necessary. About the place Zheng, historians have no definite idea. In this paper, research done by predecessors are traced and new clues are introduced.
