Objective To explore the relationship between recurrent respiratory infection in children and trace elements in their blood. Methods Sixty-four children with recurrent respiratory infection(RRI group)and 64 healthy children(control group)were enrolled into the study, and their trace elements were tested. Results RRI group was short of Zn,Fe,Ca,Cu and Mg in the blood in different degrees, and the differences in the trace elements were significant when compared with control group(P〈0.05).However,the lead level of RRI group exceed that of control group significantly(P〈0.05).Conclusion There exists a relationship between trace elements in blood and recurrent respiratory infection in children,so we should pay more attention to the replenishment of trace elements and to the prevention and the cure of excessive lead when we treat the children with recurrent respiratory infection.
