Breeding of Rice Restorer Line R524 and Performance of Its Combinations

水稻恢复系Ｒ５２４具恢复能力强、恢复谱较广、配合力较好、花粉量多、制种较容易等特点。与不育系梅青早Ａ、龙特浦Ａ配组育成的梅优５２４、特优５２４，在广东省早造杂交稻新组合区试中，比对照汕优６３增产５．２０％～６．５５％，分别于１９９４和１９９７年通过广东省农作物品种审定。１９９３～１９９７年，两组合累计种植面积超过８．８５万ｈｍ２。

R524, a new indica restorer line in rice, was developed from the cross of Minghui 63/Teqing. It is characteristic of strong restoring ability, wide restoring spectrum, good combining ability, heavy pollen load and easiness in hybrid seed production. By crossing it to two CMS lines-Meiqingzao A and Longtepu A, two combinations of Meiyou 524 and Teyou 524 were developed and released to farmers in Guangdong province in 1994 and 1997, respectively. In Guangdong provincial early cropping hybrid rice regional trials, these two combinations yielded higher than check Shanyou 63 by 5.20%～6.55%. During 1993～1997, they were planted to an accumulated area of 88 500 hm 2.
