When addressing expressions are mentioned,differences do exist in different cultural contexts,such as cultural tradition,ethic,belief and sociopolitical system.As two important parts of addressing expressions,social addressing expressions and kinship addressing expressions are greatly influenced by the ethnic cultural psychology,which mainly refers to the belief,social system,customs and norms of behavior generally agreed by a group of people living in the same cultural background.Differences of ethnic cultural psychology between English and Chinese lead to those of addressing expressions between the two contexts.The investigation of ethnic cultural psychology and its reflection in addressing expressions in English and Chinese can help to get a better understanding of cultural differences between English and Chinese so as to achieve a successful intercultural communication.
