On the Diffusion and Influence of Buddhism in Xuzhou Area in the Hanjin and Northern and Southern Dynasties

徐州位于黄淮海平原,自古经济发达,交通便捷,文化兴盛。佛教自汉代传入中土后,逐渐在神州大地传播开来。徐州作为中国古代多种宗教汇集之地,这里佛刹林立,高僧云集,为当时佛教重镇,在汉晋南北朝时期的佛教传播发展史上扮演了重要的角色,处于举足轻重的地位。

After Buddhism was introduced into China in the Han Dynasty,it was gradually spread all over the country.Xuzhou,located in the Huanghuai Plain,became a gathering place of various religions due to its developed economy,convenient transportation and flourishing culture.It was especially regarded as the key Buddhist city for the co-exsistence of numerous temples,Buddhas and eminent monks.It played an important role in the historical development of Buddhism in the Hanjin and Northern and Southern Dynasties in China.
