As doubts of capital problems raised, Evergrande's Chairman and founder Xu Jiayin denied with a laugh, saying the company's finance is in sound health. According to the company data, Evergrande enjoyed RMB19.9 billion (USD2.9 billion) of cash balance and has generated RMB4 billion (USD594 million) of contract sales in May, up by 328.6% compared to the same period of last year. When other property developers were suffering, Evergrande's discount strategy proved quite effective to address this market change. Since its establishment in 1997, Evergrande aims to be a property developer of fair price projects with flexible price methods. This means it has to expand its land reserve with fast capital return and practice a set of centralized management and standardized management mechanism to guarantee the company's control on project quality, cost, sales, and even fast growth across the nation. Thanks to Xu's control over the company, Evergrande now has grown to the No.6 listed property developer in China with fast response to market changes.
