The Evolution of Syntactic-semantic Interface in Chomsky’s Generative-transformational Grammar

本文介绍了句法结构与语义接口在乔姆斯基转换生成语法的不同发展阶段的演化。在从词库到句子生成的过程中,表达层次的演变经历了深层加表层结构到后来的深层与表层结构的取消;语义接口的演化经历了衔接深层结构、连接表层结构再到简约论的"释出"点。这一变化过程揭示了生成语言学对人类语言能力的描写和解释力,展示了转换生成语法不断创新、力求简洁的追求。

This paper focuses on the interface between syntax and semantics in different developing phases of Chomsky’s transforma-tional-generative grammar. The derivation from lexicon to sentences undergoes,in the form of levels of representation,deep ＋ surface structures,which are abolished at the last stage. Semantic representation interfaces,firstly,with surface structure,and then transfers to deep structure,and lastly to Spell-out in Minimalist Model. This modification demonstrates the descriptive and explanatory adequacy towards the characteristics of human language. Meanwhile,it is also a process of innovation and simplicity.
