摘要
人们普遍认为,许多第二语言的词汇是在词汇习得者进行广泛阅读时,附带地学习到的。然而,经过30年左右的潜心研究,词汇附带习得还是没有完全理解,许多问题没有得到解决。主要没有解决的问题有:附带习得的真正机制;为了能够做到准确猜测,所需词汇的种类和数量等。本文就近年来所作的经验式研究进行概述。
It is widely agreed that much second language vocabulary learning occurs incidentally while the learner is engaged in extensive reading. After three decades of intensive research,however,the incidental learning of vocabulary is still not fully understood,and many questions remain unsettled. Key unresolved issues include the actual mechanism of incidental acquisition,the type and size of vocabulary needed for accurate guessing,etc. This article briefly surveys the empirical research that has been done on these issues in recent years.
