评价系统视域中的翻译研究--以《红楼梦》两个译本对比为例

Translation Study:An Appraisal Perspective——A Case on Comparative Study of Two English Versions of Hong Lou Meng

评价是系统功能语言学中人际功能的一部分,由态度、介入和级差三方面组成,阐明说话者对事物的态度。本文尝试运用评价理论作为分析研究的工具,对《红楼梦》的两个英译本和原文作比较分析,旨在揭示翻译过程中译者对原文的忠实程度,分析产生不忠实于原文的原因,为翻译实践提供一个新的视角,以提高翻译质量。

Appraisal is a part of the interpersonal metafunction in Systemic Functional Linguistics. Consisting of three parts, namely attitude, engagement and gradation, it can reflect the speaker’s attitude and positioning. This paper attempts to use Appraisal Theory as a tool to compare two English versions of Hong Lou Meng with the source version in order to investigate the degree of faithfulness to the source version in the process of translation, as well as the reasons of the＂unfaithful＂phenomena in translation.This can provide a new perspective for the practice of translation so as to improve the quality of translation.
