Chekhov＇s style of drama has a far-reaching impact on the development of drama in the 20th century,as is reflected in such techniques of drama expression as weakening conflicts and creating lyric atmosphere on the stage.What lies behind Chekhov＇s static play is his unique and profound comedy spirit,and the understanding of this spirit determines the extent to which Chekhov＇s style may be accepted.On the basis of their own artistic styles,dramatists of the 20th century borrow Chekhov＇s techniques of drama expression and grasp his comedy spirit by understanding the absurdity of his static play.
