Conceptual Metaphors Between Chinese Traditional Buildings and Human Body

概念隐喻不是语言的专利,它作为一种思维方式无处不在.建筑作为一个符号系统,要通过外在的形式表现人深层的思想和心理也必须利用许多的建筑隐喻.中外的建筑文化差异很大,但是基本的人性相同,所以建筑中所应用的基本概念隐喻也是相同的.中国传统建筑体现了建筑与人体的隐喻关系.从语言中的隐喻理论入手,结合西方建筑心理学和生物学分析了建筑隐喻的必要性和建筑与人体隐喻的合理性,以及中国传统建筑中的人体隐喻.汉字、中医和风水是中华历史文化的代表,最后在中国传统文化中也找到建筑与人体隐喻的有力证据.

Metaphor is a ubiquitous principle.It is a way of thinking that we live by.As a semiotic system,buildings have to convey people＇s Abstract ideas and thoughts via metaphors.Despite the big gaps between the Chinese and Western architectural cultures,the basic conceptual metaphors in them are universal for human beings are basically the same.Chinese traditional buildings,like their western counterparts,display human body metaphor.The paper intends to explore why and how they do it from the perspective of architectural psychology and biology.Two conceptual metaphors ＂building is human body＂ and ＂human body is building＂ can both find supporting evidence in Chinese culture such as Chinese characters,Chinese medicine and Fengshui.
