在托尼.莫里森的作品中,人物名字绝大部分都有重要而深刻的含义。通过对《宠儿》一书中人物名字所蕴涵的意义进行分析,发现其具有:体现作品人物性格、显示作者讽刺手法、反映文化侵略意识和突出作品主题思想等功能。

This paper is on the reflections of names in Beloved,because the characters’ names as well as names of some places in Toni Morrison’s works are often meaningful and significant.By analyzing what the names reflect,this paper puts the names into four groups： the reflection of characters;the reflection of sarcasm;the reflection of the culture invasion;and the reflection of the theme.A brief study of the reflection of characters’ names aims to a better understanding of this novel.
