The development situation on preparation methods of biodiesel was introduced, and worldwide transesterification techniques for biodiesel synthesis including the homogeneous catalyst, heterogeneous catalyst, biology catalyst, supercritical fluidmethod, were summarized. The merits and disadvantages of different catalysts were illustrated, and the research hotspot and development direction for transesterifieation were indicated.
