According to the real conditions of Xianning power grid, the calculation principles and the methods of solving some special problems in relay protection setting are introduced. The simplified and optimal setting calculation principle of 110 kV microcomputer protection is analyzed and put forward. It would be a strategic advice for the relay protection personnel to predigest the calculation method through analysis of the regulations and the study of protection characteristic in the setting calculation link.
