This paper describes the benef its of the shunt capacitor banks in power systems,the safe conditions for operating,the diagrammatic connections of the bank-protection and the technological specifi cation of the supplemental equipments of the bank.The mathematical expressions for the protective relay settings were given f irst in the world by authors,and some examples had been expounded the applications of the mathematical expressions.
