The Relationship between Intellectuals from Anhui and Peking University before the May Fourth Movement: with a Discussion of the Reformation by CHEN Du-xiu

北京大学与皖人有缘。皖人马其昶、姚永朴等任京师大学堂教习,陈独秀长北大文科,胡适、王星拱执教北大。作为文科学长陈独秀革新北大学风,改革北大学科设置,使北大成为新文化运动的中心。

There is a close relationship between Peking University and the intellectuals from Anhui.MA Qi-chang and YAO Yong-pu were once teachers there;CHEN Du-xiu was in charge of the school of Arts;HU Shi and WANG Xing-gong also taught in Peking University.Being the president of the school of Arts,CHEN Du-xiu reformed the style of study and the curriculum there,thus making Peking University the center of the New Culture Movement.
