The Motivations of Chinese Firms Tapping Industrial Countries——The Case of Chinese Firms Investing in UK

新兴市场的后来者缺少东道国优势和国际经验,当他们试图进入工业化国家时,就提出了一个很大的问题:他们为什么要在发达国家投资?文章通过研究最近三个中国企业投资于英国的案例,试图探讨他们的动机和独特实践。研究发现,机会寻求、战略资产寻求以及战略安排是三个主要的动机,以时间为导向可以把这些动机划分为长期导向动机和短期导向动机。文章进一步从动态能力和网络的视角分析了这些动机,并对中国企业的对外投资策略提出了相应的建议。

Latecomers from emerging markets seem lack the ownership advantages and international experience,which poses a big question what their motivations when they tapping industrial countries.This paper strives to understand their motivations,unique activities through studying 3 most recent cases of Chinese firms investing UK.The study finds that market opportunities-seeking,strategic asset-seeking and strategic arrangement motivations are three main motivations in the cases,which can be further categorized by time orientation into long-term and present oriented motivations.This paper analyzes these motivations and unique activities especially views from dynamic capability and network,then proposes some suggestions for Chinese firms investing industrial countries.
