With the expanding enrollment scale of higher education in Chine, the teaching faculties are growing up. In order to cultivate high-qualified talents for our country, higher expectations have been given to teachers and the construction of teaching teams. Analyzing the essentials that accomplished teachers need, the paper put forward that teacher＇s professional ethics is the soul of education and teaching competence is the base of development. In quality education, it is crucial that teachers be e- quipped with professional ethics and teaching competence, both of which could complement and improve each other. It is believed that to be an excellent university teacher, one should be of political integrity and professional competence.
