The Practical Value of the Right Treatment on Mao Zedong Though

50年前,邓小平针对毛泽东思想被教条化、庸俗化的倾向,提出要"正确地宣传毛泽东思想",强调不能把毛泽东思想同马克思列宁主义割裂开来。"文化大革命"结束以后,邓小平提出要"完整地准确地理解毛泽东思想",为恢复党的实事求是的思想路线和开辟中国特色社会主义道路,作了思想上和理论上的准备。由此可见,能否正确对待毛泽东思想,不仅关系到对毛泽东及毛泽东思想的正确评价问题,更关系到如何正确认识走中国特色社会主义道路的历史必然性和价值合理性问题。

Fifty years ago, against the trend of making Mao Zedong thought dogmatic and vulgar, Deng Xiaoping proposed that we should ＂publicize Mao Zedong thought correctly＂, and emphasized that Mao Zedong thought could not be separa ted from Marxism-Leninism. After the ＂Cultural Revolution＂, Deng Xiaoping proposed ＂comprehending Mao Zedong thought completely and correctly＂, preparing for resuming our Party＇s Realislic Ideological Line and opening up the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics from ideology and theory. This shows that whether we can treat Mao Zedong thought correctly or not con cerns not only the issue of evaluating Mao Zedong and his thought, but also to the issue of how to recognize the historical inevitability and value rationality of striving to the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics correctly.
