Living and death is two essential issues in one' s whole life. The Chinese and the Westerners do have different notions about life and death. Yu Hua' s novel Living reveals the typical living style of Chinese people , they believe their life is determined by fate and it is inevitable for them to meet something unexpected. Chinese people have adapted antagonizing death with their' life and have denied the significance of death.. Beanvoir's novel All Men are Mortal elaborated the significance and value of death while it approved the notion that life is for death .
