Discussion on Color Meaning of the Function Words in Modern Chinese

词按照语法功能的区别,可以分为实词和虚词两大类。虚词有副词、介词、连词、助词、叹词五种。为数很少的虚词,其中有不少却是使用频率很高的,许多虚词几乎是组成句子时必不可少的。词的色彩意义通常是指词在表示某一理性或概念意义的同时所表现出来的某种倾向或情调意义。通过事实可证,汉语虚词具有浓厚的色彩义。

According to the difference of grammafical function, words can be divided into two major categories which are content words and function words. Function words includes adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, particle, interjection. There are a small number of function words in modern Chinese, most of which are very high frequency of use and meanwhile, many of them are almost essential components when we make sentences. Color meaning of a word usually refers to the word demonstrated the significance of a certain orientation or mood beside it＇s concept of a rational or meaningful. It is evidenced by the fact that Chinese function words has a strong sense of color meaning.
