Three-Thousand Anniversary of the West Inspection by Emperor Mu

2008年是西周穆王西巡归来三千周年。本文主要回答有关此结论的三个问题:一、本文认为《穆天子传》是西周实录而非战国小说家的编造。二、本文赞同贵州大学张闻玉先生的观点,认为穆王西巡时间为公元前994——公元前993年。三、关于穆王西去昆仑山和归来的路线,本文认为不经河西走廊,更不在青海,而是在内蒙居延海至河套一线。

The year of 2008 is the 3,000th anniversary that Emperor Mu of the West-Zhou Dynasty returned from his odyssey to the west.The present paper answers three questions concerning this issue.Firstly,The Biography of Emperor Mu is a historical record of the West-Zhou Dynasty instead of a fiction by the novelists in the Warring States Period.Secondly,the paper supports the view held by Professor Zhang Wenyu at Guizhou University that Emperor Mu＇s inspection to the west was around 994 B.C.to 993 B.C.Thirdly,Emperor Mu＇s journey to and back from the Kunlun Mountains is neither through Hexi Corridor nor through Qinghai,but the area between Hetao Region and Juyan Lake in Inner Mongolia.
