语用翻译强调的是一种等效翻译观。语用翻译学认为,翻译不仅要注重原文语义的传递,而且更注重翻译的等效。语用翻译的等效在于语用语言等效和社交语用等效两个方面。文章以中国旅游名城桂林市城市公示语的英语翻译为例,运用语用翻译学的等效翻译观来探讨这些城市公示语翻译实例所存在的实际问题,并针对这些问题提出了改进的建议。
