唐代社会的一个重要特点是儒释道三教并行,"外服儒风,内修梵行"是当时文人的一种风尚,他们在讲圣人之道的同时也信奉儒家学说,隐逸避世、参禅论诗成为除了垂名朝野、建功立业之外的另一种风景,亦儒亦佛、非儒非佛是那个时代中国知识分子在现实和理想挣扎之中的一幅缩影。晚唐诗人方干就是其中具代表性的一位。

An important feature of the Tang Dynasty is the parallel of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, Confucianism outside and Buddhism inside is a fashion of Scholars in that time, they not only speak of the sage but also believe in Confucianism, hermit masquerade and the Zen poetry, in addition to name of opposition to become vertical, to make contributions in addition to the kind of scenery, Confucian and Buddhism, non-Confucianism and non-Buddhist, are the Chinese intellectuals struggling in the real and the ideal of a miniature in that time. Fang Gan is one of the representatives.
