摘要
加拿大的土著人主要有印第安人、因纽特人和梅蒂斯人。本文分析了土著妇女从早期母系社会到19世纪末各阶段中的处境及地位嬗变,探讨了土著妇女自觉意识的变化、权益意识的缺失、造成该状况的诸多因素以及现代女权理论和观念未能对土著妇女迅速产生影响的历史原因,同时也指出了如何客观、理性地看待种族与性别问题。
Native peoples in Canada are Indians,Inuits and Métis.This essay analyzes the changing position and the status of the native women in the periods from the early matriarchal society to the end of the 19th century,and studies the changes of their self-awareness,the conditions of lacking the senses of women's rights,the elements that caused the conditions,and the historical reasons why modern feminism had not brought quick impact upon native women.The article finally points out how to treat ethnical and gender issues objectively and rationally.
