技术创新工作在企业中具有重大意义，加强企业技术创新是新形势对企业技术进步工作提出的更高要求，是提高企业在市场竞争力的必然之路，是社会主义市场经济体制下对企业的必然要求，是提高企业经济增长方式的重要途径。企业开展技术创新工作的目标和原则的确定方式以及如何提高自身技术创新能力，是目前企业技术创新工作的一项重要内容。只要坚持以现有企业状况为基础，把采用国内外先进技术，管理经验同现有企业的物质技术条件、人才和管理经验相结合，以市场为导向，以产品为龙头，以效益为中心，以技术创新为重点，以增长企业的竞争力为主要目标，突出重点，抓住关键，一定能够尽快地建立起有利于企业自主创新，自主发展的企业技术进步机制。
