Domestication and foreignization are important problems of translation theoretical research. By analyzing the contradiction of domestication and the two different viewpoints between domesticating translators and foreignizating translators while giving examples from cultural words, idioms and new vocabularies, the paper expounds these two translation approaches and usages by comparison, points out that both domestication and foreignization are important translation strategies which are unity of opposites and complement each other, Those two translation strategies are both of important significance in the practice of translation.
