Delimitation and the Single Delimitation Constraint

The paper makes an investigation of the validity of The Single Event Delimitation Constraint and its derivations based on the mapping and delimitation concerning events and languages. It proposes that both unidirectional mappings and possible deviations attribute to the various delimitations of events and languages ; the delimitation of events can be inconsistent- ly mapped onto the delimitation of languages, which is characterized by variety and typological differences and similarities. Its conclusion is that the validity of The Single Event Delimitation Constraint and its derivations is based on the requirement that a clause and an event should be simple and indecomposable.
