After one year and seven months in prison, 56-year-old Gong Jialong has made a return to the Petroleum industry.This time,his ambition is to create the largest privatized natural resource group in China.One sign of this ambition is his recent claim to have purchased two Canadian Oil & Gas companies at an unbelievably cheap price. Gong Jialong is the current chairman of the Tianfa Group,and is a leading figure in the private Chinese Petroleum industry.In 2005,he united 35 of China's private oil companies to establish the Great United Petroleum Holding Co.Ltd(GUPC), and was appointed Chairman of the Board.However, before GUPC was even able to finish their first deal,Gong Jialong was arrested for economic crimes and subsequently sentenced to jail. People familiar with Gong know that he is a bold visionary,good at seizing an opportunity,but not following the rules.
