V.S.Naipaul and Colonial Identity

摘要奈保尔崇尚英国文化,认为英国文化是普世文明,赞成其在全世界扩张。这种殖民认同的价值观在奈保尔的文学作品里表现为两个方面：一是对帝国塑造的＂殖民主义空间政治学＂的认同;二是其作品中普遍存在＂去革命化＂叙述。奈保尔殖民认同的价值观,一方面造成了作家的＂自我伤害＂情结,另一方面也导致了作家对殖民地革命运动必然性和革命中出现的问题的认识局限。 V. S. Naipaul identifies with British culture, regards it as a universal civilization and supports its worldwide expansion. In Naipaul＇s works his being ＂content to be colonial＂ expresses itself in two ways ： recognition of the colonial politics of space, and a unique ＂de-revolution narration＂. Both explain Naipaul＇s ＂ self-damage complex＂ and his limited vision of nationalistic anti-colonialism.
