摘要
戏剧是一个可读可演的整体,考虑到戏剧的可表演性,剧作家需要用一些不同于其他文学形式的语言技巧,从而使戏剧的语言具有了某些普遍特点,如语言的口语化,简洁性,动作性,个性化。兼具演员和导演身份的英若诚,在其翻译实践中,充分考虑舞台效果,主张保持语言的这些特点。他的戏剧翻译被译界公认为是适合演出的剧本。本文以英若诚先生翻译的《家》这一剧本为例,来探讨英若诚先生如何成功地将戏剧语言的这些特点再现于译本之中,创作出了上乘译作,保证了舞台演出的巨大成功。
Drama as a whole can be both readable and performable.Considering its performability,playwrights need to use some language skills which are different from other literary forms to make the drama language have some common features,such as colloquialism,brevity,gesture of language and personalization of speech.Ying Ruocheng,as an actor and director,fully considered the stage effect,maintaining these features in his translation practice.His translations are acknowledged to be suitable for performances.This paper takes his English version of the opera The Family as an example and analyzes how he preserved these features of drama language in his translation.
