亚洲象的繁殖观察

Observation of the Asian elephant's(Elephas maximus) reproductive behavior in Jinan Zoo

济南动物园所饲养的亚洲象(Elephas maximus)于1997年首次繁殖成功,现已繁殖3胎3仔,幼象生长发育正常。在繁殖过程中,对亚洲象的发情、交配、妊娠、分娩、幼象发育等进行了详细观察,积累了亚洲象繁殖的资料和经验。

We studied reproductive behavior of Asian elephan（Elephas maximus）in Jinan Zoo,1997.Minimum age of 1st reproduction for Asian elephant was more than 9 years,the copulatory behavior lasted for 2 days,3 times each day with average of 3.5 minutes each time.The gestation period is more than 21 months.
