Systemic and Functional Grammar and Subject of Chinese Language

从韩礼德系统功能语法的角度来阐释汉语主语问题,其基本观点是:汉语是一种隐性主语语言,位于句首的表处所、时间、工具、方式的词语实际上是标记化了的主位。以往很多学者将其语法功能定为主语,实际上是混淆了主位与主语的区别,按照韩礼德的观点,主语是一个交际行为小句的功能负责成分。

This paper attempts to investigate subject of Chinese language based on Halliday＇s theory of systemic functional grammar.The main idea is that Chinese is an implicit subject language,and words that indicate place,time,instrument,and manner at the beginning of sentences are marked theme.Many researchers who define them as subjects actually confuse the distinction of subject and marked theme.According to systemic functional grammar,subject is the responsible element of a interpersonal clause.
