商标大鹏“误译”辨析

Criticism on the Translation of "ROC"

传统观点认为,商标"大鹏"译为ROC会使英美人联想到中华民国,不利于维护国家尊严。类似的评论在国内翻译界流传达十年以上,但从历史、现实、语料库、读写、法律、推理模式等角度出发,发现该观点值得商榷。

A traditional view holds that the trademark ROC will easily remind Westerners of the socalled Republic of China, which will damage our national dignity. Such an irresponsible remark has not been corrected for over 10 years, but will be criticized here from the evidences in history, reality, corpus findings, reading and writing, pertinent law and inference model.
