主基因是指能对数量性状产生巨大效应的单个基因或位点．介绍了畜禽主基因的概念、研究现状、测定方法和利用价值，指出主基因的发现对数量性状遗传机制以及遗传育种实践将带来新的飞跃和机遇．

The major gene means a single gene or locus,which has great effect on quantitative traits.The conception,present condition,testing method and value of major genes of livestock and poultry are expounded in this paper.It is pointed out that the finding of major genes will affect genetic mechanism of quantitative traits and lead it to a new development stage.At the same time,it will also provide an opportunity for the practice of genetic breeding of livestock and poultry.
