On Qian Chengzhi's Influence on Tong Cheng School

钱澄之作为桐城派的先导,其古文创作理论对桐城派影响较大,然因其文多涉时讳,传世作品较少,其主张未曾引起关注。钱澄之针切时弊、文以载道的创作宗旨、以"气"运文的行文法度和语词雅洁的文风主张极大地影响了桐城派方苞、姚鼐、刘大櫆等人,对后世桐城派、文论体系的形成有筚路蓝缕的开创之功。

As the pioneer of Tong Cheng School,Qian Chengzhi＇ writing theory had great influence on the School.However,only a small number of his works are found nowadays and his theory has never been widely accepted because the contents of his articles were often related to taboos in the time he lived.Qian Chengzhi advocated that articles should reflect the reality and the language should be elegant.Qian＇s theory greatly influenced writers of the same school such as Fangbao Yaonai and Liu Dakui and it also paved the way for the formation of writing theory of Tong Cheng School.
