Development of a Horizontal Cross Flow Packed Bed Scrubber

A novel scrubber is presented for the removal of fluorine and ammonia from phosphatic fertilizer plants: a horizontal cross flow packed bed scrubber, where the gas and liquid come into contact in a cross flow manner, with good mass transfer results and low pressure drop. It is of the horizontal configuration and employs the detachable polypropylene fiber packings, facilitating its installation, cleaning and upkeep.
