The racial sensitivity and political dimension in Eudom Welty's works used to be neglected. The textual analysis of her early short story A Wom Path can correct such misreading by revealing its racial significance and political implications. Borrowing from the slave narrative tradition, Welty allegorically reproduces Mrican Americans' history of racial oppression and reveals their real status as second - hand citizens after the abolition.
