摘要
象征,是黑格尔对东方民族思维发展水平和思维方式特征的界定。黑格尔的理性主义倾向决定了他不能对之作出正确的评价。而后现代主义思想家在批判传统的理性主义和主张多元主义方法论的过程中,不仅使得东方象征性思维的地位得以提升,而且与之产生了契合,并在客观上对这种古老的思维方式的特点和价值给予了重新认识和评价。
Hegel's definition of symbolic art maintains that human thinking is a progressive development from perceptual,concrete thinking mode to rational,Abstract thinking mode,and points out the remarkable transitional nature of the oriental symbolic thinking mode(poetic thinking mode),and its manifestations in the oriental art,aesthetics,religion and philosophy.But his extreme rationalism leads to a negative and derogative attitude towards the oriental poetic thinking mode.The reaffirmation of the value of the oriental symbolic thinking mode by postmodernist thinkers in critique of the fallacies of extreme rationalism and essentialism,together with their pluralist methodology,may help establish a new perspective on the oriental symbolic thinking mode.
