Encoding Method with 11 Bits per Chinese Character in Low Baudrate Communication

为提高中文短报文或字段的编码空间效率,从汉字或词组的使用频度出发,按照11 bit为编码单元构建了常用汉字字符的编码表及相关算法。经验证,使用该方法对中文短报文进行编码,可降低约30%的报文传输量,对极低速率信道条件下的应急数据通信有一定借鉴作用。

To improve the efficiency of encoding chinese phrases and short messages, an approach based on the utilization frequency of chinese characters is presented. In the approach, every character or phrase is encoded in 11 bits,while a common chinese characters＇coding form and the relevant algorithm is created. Practice shows this approach can cut down 30 percent of the throughput of messages, which is applicable for low baudrate communication.
