第四代导演的"文革"叙事电影可分为两类。第一类以《生活的颤音》、《苦恼人的笑》为代表,是对"文革"和"四人帮"的控诉与批判。第二类有《巴山夜雨》、《小街》、《我们的田野》、《青春祭》等,是对"文革"时期青年一代青春、理想的追怀。影片的形象刻画从社会政治层面趋向人性层面,艺术审美呈现出由激烈、悲愤而诗意、抒情的发展风格。但对于形成"文革"的社会历史根源缺少深刻的反思与批判。
