This paper introduces briefly the configuration,performance and manufacturing process of the elastic coupling with a new spherical and conical shaft shoe,which is used at a universal coupling.The coupling settles successfully such an urgent issue in production,for which the tugboat has to anchor in absence of foreign spare parts.This coupling has the excellence of the single configuration,reasonable design,good performance reliable operation,long life of usage and facile maintenance in comparison with the elastic coupling.Therefore,it provides the optimal selection for reforming the tugboat with the Z type propeller,and elastic coupling of short life,at home and abroad.
