Toni Morison’s Sula is a classical works in black feminist literature. In this novel, Morrison successfully portrays some black women images, such as Eva, Sula, Nell, etc. From a unique perspective, she depicts their hard life under the suppression of both ethnic and sexual discrimination, and their rough journey of seeking self-liberation. This paper explores the awakening self-consciousness of those three black women and its potential leading effect on the Black Women’s Liberation Movement from the perspective of feminism.
