英语中基本层次动词及下位动词的语用研究

A Pragmatic Study of Basic-Level and Subordinate Verbs in English

基本层次动词表达概念系统中的基本层次范畴,是语言的基本、核心词汇,词形简短、使用频繁,文体上属中性,但这一突显地位并不意味着它们在所有语境中占绝对优势。本文通过考察实证语料,发现在散文和日常会话中,基本层次及下位动词在使用和分布上受语篇目的及说话人(作者)自身特点等语用因素所决定。

As symbols representing basic-level categories in the human conceptual system,basic-level verbs are basic and core words in a language.They are short in form,most commonly used and contextually neutral;yet such a fundamental position does not necessarily guarantee their preponderance in all contexts.Empirical study in this paper finds that in both English prose and daily conversations pragmatic factors like discourse purposes and speaker characteristics determine the frequency and distribution of basic-level as well as subordinate verbs.
