On the Shortage of Dialectics in John Dewey's Philosophy

杜威哲学缺失辩证法,其历史原因是杜威在学习黑格尔哲学的时期深受春德林堡影响,而后者结合了亚里士多德的思想,持自然化的黑格尔主义。杜威拒斥辩证法为一种方法,但同时接受辩证法中的相反的存在。他有着朴素辩证法思想,只是没有成熟的辩证法表述,而这只是导致其哲学受到指责的一个根本原因,因为辩证法对于处理确定性-相对性问题是必不可少的,也是避免走向相对主义或者虚伪主义的精神武器。

Dewey＇s philosophy lacks dialectics, and the historical reason is that he was heavily influenced by Trendelenburg when he was studying Hegelianism; and the latter had combined the philosophy of Aristotle and held a naturalized Hegelianism. Dewey rejected dialectics as a method, but accepted the contrary existence in dialectics. He held a plain dialectics, but lacked mature demonstration of dialectics, which has been only one fundamental reason for the accusation of his philosophy, because dialectics is indispensable to the problem of determinacy and indeterminacy, and also a spiritual weapon against relativism and false doctrine.
